And the craziness begins...

When we tell people that we are leaving our jobs and our home in Alabama to travel with a busload of African and Asian orphans for a year, we usually get one of two reactions: blank stares and total confusion as to why we would want to do something like this, or the perfunctory "Well, isn't that nice..." We know most people think we're nuts. And to be honest, sometimes we have our own doubts about our sanity when we really begin thinking about the logistics of traveling nearly 800 miles a week, eating fast food, living in very restricted quarters, and performing five concerts a week for ten months.

But as I've discovered in the past year, the rewards that come out of being obedient to God and fulfilling the plan He has for me will far outweigh any sacrifices I have to make along the way. Right now, it's hard to see past the not-so-fun aspects of reserving a moving truck, packing up our lives, and leaving our dogs and the people we love. But I know that in the not-so-distant future, our lives will be unbelievably blessed by unassuming, wide-eyed, non-English speaking children who will have so much to teach me about a life beyond the one I know so well. While I complain about having to pack boxes, they praise God for giving them water that day, for providing caregivers after their parents have passed on, and for getting them the vaccinations they need to survive. When I am wishing I had more money to shop, they are so thankful that they are going to get a Bible of their very own.

We feel so convicted about this new journey with Children of the World. I am certain the year will fly by before we have gotten enough of those precious children! Please pray for us in the upcoming weeks. We will be moving July 5 and will be in Lynchburg, Virginia July 26 to begin training. We (and by "we" I mean almost always Taylor) will be attempting to keep you posted on this blog all year with our upcoming performances, itenerary, and interesting stories (I'm sure there will be many!). So mark us as one of your favorites and happy reading!
